ABOUT NDMA
The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) was established by law by the Liberia National Legislature in May 2016 with the mandate to strengthen disaster preparedness, mitigation, emergency response and also improve risk identification and assessment of risks in the country. the establishment was in direct regard to Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030. At the World Conference in Sendai, Japan, States recommitted to addressing disaster risk reduction and the building of resilience with a renew sense of urgency within the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication. NDMA along with other relevant stakeholders is committed to implementing this framework by coordinating all disaster related activities in Liberia. We are resolve on moving forward, with a mindset that any further procrastination and indecision to rally efforts towards reducing risks and improving preparedness for emergency response would only result in further losses in development gains now and in the future.
Application and effective implementation of all legal and institutional frameworks, innovative technological approaches to reduce national, local community vulnerabilities, and disaster risks within the context of Liberia new Development Agenda for properity and the sustainable development goals.
By the year 2030 Liberia will establish measures to effectively prevent, mitigate and build resiliance of communities and institutions to disasters.
Our Goal is to enhance national and local capacity to minimize vulnerability and disaster risks, prevent, mitigate and prepare for adverse impacts of hazards within the context of the context of Liberia new Development Agenda for prosperity and the sustainable development goals.
