
NDMA Provides Additional Humanitarian Support to Oxygen Tank Explosion Victims
(September 30, 2025; Monrovia, Liberia): NDMA’s Director of Emergency Response Augustine Kollie led a team of humanitarian support officers to the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital to provide additional humanitarian support to families whose loved ones who are currently being admitted in the hospital due to serious injuries sustained from an oxygen gas tank explosion which occurred at the MIRA Gas Company on the Bushrod Island.
It can be recalled that an oxygen gas tank exploded at the MIRA Gas Company on the Bushrod Island, leading to the death of two persons and several others sustaining serious injuries. As a way of identifying with the victims of the incidence, the NDMA has been providing psycho-social support to the victims and humanitarian items to families of the victims – food and non-food items like rice, mattresses, etc.
Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Kollie emphasized that the Government of Liberia remains committed to addressing the needs of people who are at risk and affected by disasters; he further stated that the NDMA will continue to follow up on the conditions of the victims and make sure that the MIRA Gas Company provides the required assistance needed by the victims to help in their recovery. In his response, MIRA Gas Company’s Human Resource Services Consultant Sallay T. Randolph promised that the company will work with families of the affected persons and ensure that the victims receive the required care needed for their recovery.
